By definition dialogue in a simple form is a conversation between two or more persons, or an exchange of ideas or opinions on a particular issue, especially on a difference or gap issue, with a goal of reaching an amicable agreement or settlement.
We explore the use of facilitated conversations and social experiences to drive meaningful action. Dialogue is the foundation of what it means to be human, and the start of any meaningful human interaction. It is at this juncture the art of genuine dialogue, and its use in organizations, is examined.
DIALOG Program Objective
The main objective of D.I.A.L.O.G.™ is creating an opportunity for each participant to examine the preconceptions, prejudices and the characteristic patterns that lie behind his or her thoughts, opinions, beliefs and feelings to generate a process encouraging self-reflective conversation and inquiry that bring to the surface tension created by difference; clarify and address issues of potential conflict (e.g., race, color, religion, affirmative action, ethnicity, gender, age, disability) and challenge the participants to rethink many of their attitudes, assumptions, perceptions and social understandings through sharing of feelings, emotions, thoughts and experiences considering alternative perspectives.
Dialogue increases coherence between the participants where they are able to move beyond their cultural limitations into new territory.
